"As a former bouncer and currently a law enforcement officer as well as a Hi Al, I'm still speechless over these Simple to learn techniques that have devastating consequences!... When a 5'2", slim, petite framed woman, whose facing me directly, at arms distance & in a casual non-threatening stance can deliver just "ONE, split second"... hand strike... which was "to the chest of my 6'2, 97kg frame".......causing me to take a few steps backwards ...despite my wearing multi-layer protective chest padding....says it all! Glen G. Shepley Hikuta
truly frees the mind of all fears and allows you to enjoy life and all
that it has to offer. Dear Al, I want to thank you sincerely for a great weekend. The Kuta seminar When it comes to the content of the seminar, I can simply and I personally believe that one of the most important aspects of the Another great aspect of the weekend seminar was Bill and his I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that I await eagerly Sincerely, Brett Hosking Hi Al, First of all a very big thank you from all of us from Down Under to both you and Bill Pogue for coming all the way down here to share your amazing self defense skills. Clearly Hikuta is a superior system. It is quite easy to learn and with a bit of practice one can gain lot more confidence in violent encounters. I think the course was very well structured as it introduced a concept which then became foundation for the next one. Hikuta is not based on learning hundreds of techniques it is very free form. If only people took away the startle reflex drill with any type of strike and keep practicing it, that may very well be enough to prevent one getting seriously injured or even worse. I have not come across another system that would be so quick to pick up. I understand there is more to it then what we have covered (e.g. we did not have time to go through locks and take downs) but the essence was there. Those who already know little bit of any style can simply incorporate Hikuta concepts and gain very credible speed and power. George Hynec The "Extreme Combat" DVD got me hooked. I have a lot of videos from fight systems called, "Devastating", "Brutal", "Unknown", etc. The hikuta system is all these things. These other systems all have these nice moves to take weapons away or to throw and manipulate people. But the problem with them is that they all take time. You cannot do sweeps and joint manipulations in an attack because some buddy ( not yours but his) is going to be on you quick. You need something that is devastating and quick so you can deal with more than one person. I have videos on gun and knife disarms that are beautiful to watch because of the joint manipulations and the throws but in real life I think they would be almost useless. Besides, if Goliath grabs hold of you or has a knife at you, you are NOT going to bend his wrists. Ain' t going to happen. He has no respect for you and he ain' t going to let you throw him. Finally, I can quit spending money on all those other tapes... Lastly, having a system that has many different moves builds confusion in times of trouble. Your system, with its few moves: fist, kick, arm bars makes for a simpler system to learn and most importantly, USE. The seminar DVD's are terrific. Stephen B., I stumbled across this web site by accident, trying to find out if Doc Lee was still teaching. Because I was a book student of his some years ago. That's when I found out that Al Abidin was his prize student who learned the art of Hikuta from him, which was so cool. What an honor. It was very easy to learn. It brought me to another level. Jacob Collins, "Having moved out of London I found myself unable to continue Thai Boxing and Karate lessons. I embarked on my own exercises and continued with my practice as much as possible, building an exercise area in my new garden. This was fine up to a point but I missed my lessons and the guidance of the sensei. Quite by chance I saw Al Abidin's Hikuta ad on a martial arts web-site and sent off for the DVD course. I was impressed not only with the methods but the teacher support that Al provides. I am in England but it does not seem as if Al is thousands of miles away in USA. I had a recent run-in with 3 youths in a shop and Hikuta certainly helped me handle the situation with calm confidence. The 3 youths decided not to attack and I am certain that the confidence I projected came from knowing I had the new Hikuta strategies at my disposal. Al is very encouraging and 'enrolling' into his Hikuta program is the next best thing to receiving direct tuition in the Dojo. I recommend it for anyone who takes protecting themselves seriously." Grahame Innes, Once i realized it would be possible to learn this stuff fast, I wanted to learn it from the best, as close to the source as possible... and that means learning from Al! Chris Cooper, UK "Al, the reason I have contacted you numerous times is because I am very interested in your system. I went to a local aikibudo dojo where I go to "roll
around the mat" with a few friends from time to time. However, perhaps inevitably, I found myself staring
straight at his chest in the lineup. Having seen what he had
done to a few of my pals, I decided there and then that I
was walking out of the dojo in one piece. I don't mind
being called a coward as long as I survive. So, when the sensei called for us to begin, the "legend" swaggered
over to me stared straight into my eyes and said, "You're
going to regret coming here tonight." Raymond
Brennan Hi Al, Hikuta is one of the most practical and effective systems I have ever trained in. I have trained in Martial Arts for over 15 years and have not found a system that matches it's superiority. Hikuta uses speed to generate power while striking and kicking with a "Soft Strike". It has a great "first strike" characteristic that will drop an opponent quickly without complicated defense tactics. Thank You! John Libitz "I am female, five foot tall, one hundred and twelve pounds, and I want you to know that in 1998 I brought a six foot four, two hundred twenty pound male attacker (trained in military hand to hand combat, I found out later...) flat on his back and unconscious. I was defending my teenaged daughter, who was with me. He grabbed her by the upper arms and they grappled. I shouted "STOP!" and hit him with an open palm in the chest (which was all I could reach) in a sort of a "back off!" manner, and he toppled like a tree. I bought the Hikuta book and video done by D.O.K. Lee in 1993 when I decided to go back to college. I was uneasy about walking out in the dark and looking for my car in that sea of vehicles. I sent for the Hikuta video because it stressed that size didn't matter. (When I was 18 I studied martial arts for a while, but I got tired of being knocked on my butt. Everyone was so much larger than I was, and I was at a disadvantage from the word "go.") I practiced Hikuta intensely for about three months. After that, I practiced in my mind, and I could actually FEEL the movement of my arms as I visualized the practice. In 2000, I had occasion to find a man attempting to break my wrist, and I sent him flat with my car keys in a Hikuta open palm strike to the collar bone. Again, one strike only, and the confrontation was over. I must be honest, the last thing on my mind in these situations was Hikuta training...it all happened so fast that if I had to consciously think "Now what was that Hikuta move" it would have been ME on the ground, or under the ground. D.O.K. Lee did say that Hikuta would become a part of you, and indeed it must have, for it came unbidden, and without effort. I am sorry to hear of the passing of D.O.K. Lee in 2000. He was an interesting, funny man, and he will be missed. I wanted to tell him about my encounters, and I'm sorry I waited too long to do so. I honestly do not consider myself any sort of martial arts master. I am just a small woman who would be perfectly happy to get along with everyone, but who doesn't want to be a victim anymore. I also want to say another thing--I have read some reviews on the original Hikuta tape and book which are not very complimentary. I understand what the problem is with D.O.K. Lee's course. It is very low budget. The book was hastily compiled, the video was shot with one stationary camera, and you really can't see what is going on. But as poorly made as this book/tape is, the seeds are there. With Hikuta you only have to tap someone to take them down. It would have been easy for me to discount and discard D.O.K. Lee's teaching. But he seemed so sincere... so I did not discard, but took and practiced and used Hikuta for self-defense. Patricia King The data is spot on and has already increased my speed and confidence; today a dodgy character was zoning me out and i eye balled him and walked on by. I could tell he knew he'd be F!"£$%Ked if tried it on and that felt great. Just knowing! I
enjoyed the new ways that you showed me of looking at dangerous
situations and being able to defend against them. This
training was of life-and-death importance, that is not taught anywhere
else. I
liked the simplicity of learning this art, which was also powerful and
effective. I
learned that its possible to increase my quickness and it gave me
confidence that I could defend myself and others. As
a police officer I saw a definite benefit to it! |
