This is Al Abidin's tribute to his
instructor and friend.
DOK LEE, 1935 - 2000. He held the title of
D.O.K.,
which stands for 'Defender Of Kings'.
CAREERS
During his life, DOK Lee had many careers.
Professional soldier
His training as a Professional Soldier involved training in the art of
Kuta, a highly effective form of self-defense. Another part of that
training included extensive familiarization of every available martial
art at the time.
Masonry
foreman
He was the Field superintendent of a construction company that built
numerous buildings in several big cities, including Detroit.
Bodyguard
He was the bodyguard of several dignitaries, including Chiang Kai-shek
and also some important businessmen.
Self-defense
instructor
His knowledge of self-defense was vast. He only taught students
privately.
Al Abidin became one of them.
HOBBIES
DOK Lee's garden was very large and contained a wide variety of
delicious vegetables.
He also loved animals. Often he would leave food out at night for them
to eat.
In his younger days he took up boxing and won the golden glove award as
a heavyweight in the Detroit area.
